New exhibition at Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library showcases objects depicting watershed events during the 1960s U.S. civil rights movement

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- "Nobody Turn Us Around: The Freedom Rides and Selma to Montgomery Marches: Selections from the John Doar Papers" showcases over 30 photographs and documents from two watershed events during the 1960s U.S. civil rights movement: the Freedom Rides of 1961 and the Selma-to-Montgomery marches of 1965. The exhibition runs Monday, April 24 through March 31, 2024 at Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library in Princeton.

Grounds For Sculpture to Present Final Nighttime Light and Sound Experience in Collaboration with Klip Collective

(HAMILTON, NJ) -- Night Forms, a site-specific multi-sensory experience, will be on view at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) from November 24, 2023 through April 7, 2024. This third and final installment of GFS's partnership with Klip Collective brings back more than a dozen installations from the second season's Infinite Wave along with a reprise of Froghead Rainbow, one of the most popular works from Klip's inaugural project at GFS, dreamloop. The exhibition is designed to engage with Grounds For Sculpture's art and horticulture collections and invites visitors to explore the grounds after dark.

RVCC Holocaust Institute Slates Exhibition Focusing on Survivors of Holocaust, Other Genocides

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will present Stories of Survival: Object. Image. Memory., on display at the College's Branchburg campus from January 10 until May 10, 2024. The exhibition, which is free of charge to visitors, showcases more than 60 oversized photographs of personal artifacts that were brought to America by survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides.

Philadelphia Artist's New Exhibit Focuses on History of Atlantic City Neighborhood

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Janice Merendino's new exhibit at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University started with a simple question: Who's now living in my grandmother's house? That question has led to the creation of "Ducktown: An Atlantic City Immigration Story" celebrating the neighborhood through the stories of past and present immigrants. The exhibit opened January 10th and continues until March 31.

Public Art Initiative "Windows of Understanding" Returns on MLK Day with Expanded Reach and Youth Engagement

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The New Brunswick Community Arts Council, Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, Highland Park Arts Commission, Metuchen Arts Council, South Plainfield Cultural Arts Commission, and ASquared in Rahway, announce the seventh annual "Windows of Understanding" season, running January 15 through March 31, 2024, in various communities throughout Middlesex and introducing Union County. Building a healthy community is the center of this year’s initiative that unites local artists, organizations, and businesses to promote awareness and engagement around social justice issues impacting local communities. All events are free and open to the public.

From Playful Abstraction To Environmental Narratives: Hunterdon Art Museum Starts 2024 With Three New Exhibitions

(CLINTON, NJ) -- The Hunterdon Art Museum has introduced three new exhibitions, presenting the works of artists Cynthia Carlson, Kate Dodd, and Ellen Siegel. The exhibitions, now open to the public, feature a dynamic range of art from Carlson's vibrant color and form explorations, Dodd's environmentally conscious installations, to Siegel's narrative assemblages.

Zimmerli presents George Segal: Themes and Variations

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Marking the centennial of George Segal's birth in 1924, the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers—New Brunswick welcomes visitors to experience more than 60 works: some familiar, others rarely seen. The exhibition highlights not only the breadth of Segal's work, but also the people and the state that helped to shape his career. George Segal: Themes and Variations is on view from January 24 to July 31, 2024.

New Jersey City University Galleries presents "The Universe of Ben Jones" and "Constellations"

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- New Jersey City University presents "The Universe of Ben Jones" in the Harold B. Lemmerman Gallery and "Constellations" in the NJCU Visual Arts Gallery. Both exhibits run from January 27 to April 3, 2024. There will be an Opening Reception for each on Janury 27 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

Nature's Canvas Unveiled: Reeves-Reed Arboretum presents Its Spring Art Exhibition, "Nature Ephemeral"
